Five new species of Hydrellia R.-D. (Diptera: Ephydridae) from Northern Europe with notes on other species

Five new species of Hydrellia from Northern Europe are described: Hydrellia aboensis sp. nov. (type locality: Finland, Karjalohja), H. collini sp. nov. (type locality: UK, Aviemore), H. hellqvisti sp. nov. (type locality: Sweden, Åmsele), H. kemneri sp. nov. (type locality: Sweden, Vomb), and H. palmeni sp. nov. (type locality: Finland, Jollas, SE of Helsinki). The following new synonyms are proposed: H. anguliterga Deeming, 2002 = H. sagittata Canzoneri & Rampini, 1998; H. asymmetrica Papp, 1983 = H. sera Cresson, 1932 = H. stratiotae Hering, 1925; H. dubia Dahl, 1968 = H. flaviceps (Meigen, 1830); H. flavicoxalis Cresson, 1944 = H. pilitarsis (Stenhammar, 1844); H. nigriceps (Meigen, 1830) = H. albiceps (Meigen, 1824); H. nostimoides Frey, 1958 = H. latipalpis Cresson, 1943; H. propinqua Wahlgren, 1947 = H. stratiotella Wahlgren, 1947 = H. fascitibia (von Roser, 1840); H. valerosiae Canzoneri & Rampini, 1990 = H. concii Canzoneri & Meneghini, 1975. H. stratiotae Hering is resurrected from the synonymy with H. tarsata Haliday, 1839. Lectotypes of H. stratiotella Wahlgren, 1947; H. nostimoides Frey, 1958 and H. tarsata Haliday, 1839 are designated. H. flaviceps (Meigen) and H. pilitarsis (Stenhammar) are mentioned for the first time from the Nearctic Region.
