Anmärkningsvärda fynd av småfjärilar (Microlepidoptera) i Sverige 2025

Abstract

This is the 53rd annual report on noteworthy records of Microlepidoptera in Sweden. The disposition is the same as in previous years. All reports of interesting Microlepidoptera found and reported in 2025 (or earlier), are confirmed by voucher specimens, by unambiguous photographs, or by the collectors/photographers, who have given relevant and reliable data of the records. Most information has been retrieved from the Swedish portal Species Observation System 1) or from Facebook groups (FB) dealing with Lepidoptera. Due to the difficulty to assign a gender to a particular genus name, this series will henceforth present
the species epithet with its original spelling, which guarantees the most stable way of naming a species (Sommerer 2002; Nieukerken et al. 2018; Bengtsson et al. 2020). However, to be in accordance with the Swedish database Artfakta 11), the ending of the epithet is given in parenthesis complying with “gender agreement” (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature [ICZN: Article. 31]) 5). Twelve species of Microlepidoptera were recorded new to Sweden in 2025. 1) Eriocrania marci Schmid, 2024; 2) Caloptilia honoratella (Rebel, 1914); 3) Phyllonorycter issikii (Kumata, 1963); 4) Phyllonorycter mespilella (-us) (Hübner, 1805); 5) Phyllonorycter medicaginella (-us) (Gerasimov, 1930); 6) Phyllocnistis xenia Hering, 1936; 7) Choreutis nemorana (Hübner, 1799); 8) Aproaerema cinctelloides (Nel & Varenne, 2012); 9) Aproaerema vinella (Bankes, 1898), 10) Agonopterix putridella ssp. scandinaviensis Buchner & Corley, 2025; 11) Endothenia ustulana (Haworth, 1811); and 12) Epiblema turbidana (Treitschke, 1835). The number of recorded species of Microlepidoptera in Sweden is 1810, including introduced, occasional and migrating species. A more detailed summary is given at the end of this paper.
