Abstract

The first Swedish records of Desmometopa varipalpis Malloch, 1927 are presented, and the fly is obviously common and widely distributed. The occurrence is often numerous in pharmaceutical and food industries as well as in housing environments such as bathrooms. The verified reproduction habitats in our examples are sewage holes. A short survey of the biology of Desmometopa species is given.
