Abstract

The first record in Sweden of Catephia alchymista was made in Skåne, Backåkra, May 27, 2024. The specimen, a male, was found on sugar bait (figs and sugar) early in the evening. In Scandinavia and Finland this species only is recorded as a migrant by 4 ex. 2022 from the south coast of Finland. The species is known from North Africa, the Mediterranean countries up to the Baltic Sea and England and the distribution goes east to Russia, Ural. The foodplant is different species of oak Quercus spp.. C. alchymista is increasing north, possibly an effect of climate change and the species may become resident in the near future.
